During the July meeting, I shared about a Summer Leadership Institute hosted by Inclusive Schooling. This four-day virtual event is for Pre-K through post secondary leaders and educators who want to ensure inclusive practices.
While there isn't a direct focus on EI, there are several sessions that will be of interest to you all. In particular, sessions on race and equity, inspirational stories from self-advocates, and opportunities to network with others who are working to engage learners virtually. Our aim is to model inclusivity and how to connect with one another virtually.
You can save almost $200 by using this link to register.
If you have questions - contact me directly Kristie@Kristiepf.com.
TY all so much!
P.S. Ijumaa Jordan and I will be hosting a six-part series for PD providers who want to examine how their current practices are upholding the White Dominant Culture. I'll have more details to follow.

If you are not a member of the ISEI and want to receive alerts about this conference then please visit the ISEI website and sign up for a free membership: http://depts.washington.edu/isei/. - Meet and Greet in Dallas! - We will have and informal "meet and greet" at the DEC Conference in Dallas. I will do my best to secure space for us at Gossip Bar (in the hotel) for Wednesday, October 2nd from 6:15pm-7:15pm CT and if for some reason there is a change of venue it will be posted on this page. If you are attending the conference and would like to stop by to say hello we would love to connect with you in person.
- Meeting Room Change for 11/19/19 - Our next virtual meeting is on 11/19/19 and we will have a new meeting room for this meeting only. - November 19 Discussion Topic: Nancy Surbrook-Goins has a conflict in her schedule so we will postpone our discussion with her on mindfulness in EI. Thankfully, Kristie Pretti-Frontczak is free to participate so she will do a follow up to our discussion from 9/17/19 and help us dig deeper into managing complex change.
- Coming Soon! - Kristie Pretti-Frontczak and I are working to develop a new interactive page on our workspace to help us keep the conversations going and resource sharing as we work to manage complex change. Until then, please review our meeting notes from 9/17/19 to get caught up on what you missed or to explore one of the many resources shared before/during that meeting.

I recently learned of this virtual book study through a colleague in MN who is also a new member of our CoP (Betsy Rust). They have Dathan Rush and M'Lisa Shelden coming 2 different times between May and August. In order to prepare practitioners and teams they are doing a virtual book study with their "Coaching in Early Childhood Handbook". They would LOVE to have participants from outside of MN join them in this virtual book study! They asked that we share this invite with you so you can share it with your teams or with your ECSE leaders to share with their teams. We are invited to participate as well and they would love our feedback (good and bad) and ideas for improvements or as we are going through the book study! Please note:
- There is no minimum level of participation or engagement in order to participate
- They have a book study via email group going in tandem (to support those that are not on Facebook)
- Participants are welcome to invite their general ed/community education partners as well

Added 6/20/17 - EI Curriculum Workgroup Update
The EI Curriculum Workgroup has a few important updates that could impact online learners if you are embedding links from the Universal Online Part C EI Curriculum into your online offerings. We are also seeking your input as we prepare for two presentations at national conferences over the next few months. See below for more info on these important updates.
- UPDATE # 1: All of the links to the interactive online modules for Mission and Key Principles and Foundational Pillars of EI have been updated because the free feature we have been using through dropbox for viewing the modules is no longer being supported and eventually will no longer allow for playback. If you have any of these links embedded in your curriculum please update them as soon as possible to prevent any interruptions for your online learners. Minor edits were also made to the modules based on feedback gathered from online participants. One of those edits was the development of a "Learner's Guide" for the mission and key principles module. The Learner's Guide is a place for learners to take notes and document their individual reflections if they choose to keep a record of the responses they submit in the interactive module. The updated links can be found on the Universal Online Part C EI Curriculum landing pad: http://universalonlinepartceicurriculum.pbworks.com/w/page/79643207/Online%20Curriculum
- UPDATE # 2:The EI Curriculum Workgroup will be presenting on the Universal Online Part C EI Curriculum at the upcoming OSEP Leadership Conference in July and the DEC Conference in October. We'd love to gather some updated information about how you are using the curriculum so we can share that with the field. We appreciate your feedback on this very short survey no later than Friday June 30th: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UniversalEICurriculum-June2017
- UPDATE # 3: The EI Curriculum Workgroup continues to work on the development of the Authentic Assessment in Early Intervention module which will be the next installment of the Universal Online Part C EI Curriculum. This module will include 4 lessons that cover what authentic assessment is in EI, why it is important, how it is done and who does it along with when it is done. Our goal is to have this finished in the Fall of 2017. We are also adding a new "closing summary" to the Foundational Pillars of EI module which will direct learners to additional resources pertaining to each pillar and will also ask them to share their feedback with us upon completion of the online module. It is through this feedback that we are able to address necessary updates and assess the ongoing needs of online learners as well as administrators, trainers, TA providers, faculty and anyone else that is using the materials we develop.

The series, “Use of Technology with Evidence Based Early Intervention,” illustrates how video, video conferencing, and related technologies can improve access to, and the quality of, supports for families as well as better enable teams to practice evidence-based early intervention services. A big shout out to Susan Jones, Beth Popich, Bev Smith, Holly Weatherson, and BJ Henry for their partnership in producing these videos and their tireless efforts to deliver high quality early intervention services in Ohio.

Hey everyone...not sure you can see the explanation of my addition to this page...so I'm including the note here as a comment as well. Added an event that I hope you'll share with colleagues in your network. Backstory: I've been wanting to find a way to help alleviate the overall sense of dread that so many citizen around the world are experiencing. I truly believe that it is through hope, compassion, and mindfulness that we overcome challenges vs. fear and worry. Though it's a challenge for sure. So last night when I couldn't sleep, I came up with something I could do. Since I have years/decades of experience teaching EI/ECSE/ECE content across formats from asynchronous to on-ground and even hyflex...I thought maybe I could be of use. Click here to learn about three ZOOM sessions I'm offering next week. They are free and for faculty and PD providers alike. I'll be sharing some tips. brainstorming around challenges participants bring up, and hopefully having a few guests experts join the conversation. I don't know if this is something that would be helpful and/or if anyone will register...and that's ok. I'm getting good at living with uncertainty (ha). Contact me if you have questions. Thanks so much!
